Andrew Currie
Andrew has been living and breathing music for the past 10 years of his life. He began playing the trombone in his grade 7 music class and then tried out for the drums. He received his first guitar that same year, for Christmas, and ever since then he hasn'’t put it down. Well at least not for long! He learned as much about the guitar’s general history, how it’s made, the parts and all the different styles and instrument makers. Andrew has now opened a vintage guitar business dealing with repairs, lessons, and sales. On the side Andrew is an active musician who has played in numerous bands of his own and has played many local venues including on stage at the Gravenhurst Opera House. Currently he is the lead guitarist, vocals and writer for a band called The Engines of Destruction. He works at the Gravenhurst Opera House and with the summer presentation of Music on the Barge, also in Gravenhurst. Andrew has worked in a technical support role with Blue Rodeo, Sylvia Tyson, Terry Sumson, Carroll Baker, The Montreal Guitar Trio, Cuff the Duke, Tanglefoot, The Good Brothers, The Irish Rovers, Alfie Zappacosta, The Cobblestones, Bobby Evens, Jeff Healy, Jimmy Bowskill, George Fox, John Berry and many more top artist. AndrewÂ’s musical interests range from BlueÂ’s guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Johnson, to Rock n Roll and particularly The Beatles. He possesses a huge collection of vintage vinyl including some of rock n rollÂ’s best known bands.
